Emily logan
Pianist, Emily Logan, from Moncton, NB, began her musical journey at an early age. She is the 2018 Winner of the Knigge Graduate Award, the recipient ArtsNB Grants in 2018, 2017, 2015 and 2012, and the 2011 winner of the New Brunswick Piano Competition.
Emily is currently a student in the Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance program at the University of British Columbia, where she was chosen as a UBC Public Scholar for the 2018/2019 school year. She studies solo piano with Dr. Terence Dawson and Collaborative Piano with Professor Rena Sharon. Emily received a Master of Music in Piano Performance program from the University of Ottawa and a Bachelor of Music from Mount Allison University. Emily is also an alumnus of the prestigious Aspen Music Festival and School. Her principle teachers have included David Jalbert, Lynn Johnson, Virginia Weckstrom. As a performer, she has given solo, collaborative, and chamber music recitals, and was guest artist and lecturer at the American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates. She has participated in numerous masterclasses with well-known performers, including Paul Lewis, Janina Fialkowska, André LaPlante, and Gilles Vonsattel.
In addition to her solo study, Emily has performed as a collaborative pianist with singers, instrumentalists, and in chamber groups. She placed 2nd with Mezzo Soprano, Yenny Lee, in the 2018 VWMS Art Song Competition. Her trio, Trio Le Mascaret, place 2nd at the National Music Festival in August 2013. For over 2 years, she was the pianist for the award-winning University Singers Choir at UBC.
Emily has been the recipient of numerous scholarships and awards. In addition to her music studies, Emily completed the Performance Coaching Program with Algonquin College, studying sports psychology and life coaching. She remains active as a solo and collaborative pianist, a private piano teacher, and an instructor of Aural Skills at UBC. When not engaging in musical activities, Emily enjoys playing competitive Bridge.
YEEUN YENNY LEE
Mezzo-soprano Yeeun Yenny Lee is a first-year master student at the University of British Columbia, studying with Dale Throness. She won the first place in the Vancouver International Music Competition and received the Encouragement award in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Audition Western Canada district. She placed 2nd with pianist, Emily Logan, in the Inaugural VWMS Art Song Competition.
She performed in various productions with UBC Opera including Rosette from Manon, Hermia from A Midsummernight’s Dream, Mother from The Consul and Olga from Eugene Onegin. In July 2017 she traveled to Prague, Czech Republic to perform Il Barbiere di Siviglia as a role of Rosina with European Music Academy, and in July 2018 she went back to Czech Republic to perform Isabella from L’italiana in Algeri. She performed as a mezzo soloist in Bach Mess in G minor with UBC Baroque Mentorship Orchestra and St. John Passion with UBC Symphony Orchestra. In February 2019, she sang a role of Dritte Dame from Die Zauberflöte with UBC Opera.
