2025 scholarship competition
for Orchestral Instruments


 

ELIGIBILITY: The competition is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents of all gender identities who call British Columbia their home. It is open to orchestral instrumentalists from ages 13 to 30.

New Competition Format:
Preliminary Round: video submission
Final Round: Live performance of top three contestants

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Midnight, April 30th, 2025

FINAL ROUND: June 4th, 2025

The event is open to the public and competitors are encouraged to stay and enjoy all the performances.


TOTAL MONETARY AWARDS: The first 10 eligible applicants in the Junior category will be competing for a total of $2,000 in awards. The first 10 eligible applicants in the Senior category will be competing for a total of $8,000 in awards. All of our winners are given the opportunity to perform for an appreciative audience of guests and members of our society.

NEW: DEI AWARD: Award for the best performance of a work supporting and reflecting a commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Further details about this new award may be found on the Scholarship Application Form. There will be ONE DEI award presented to the outstanding performance over both categories.

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS: Performance in the following VWMS concert season. Every applicant also receives a voucher worth $100 towards any service offered by Michelle Diamond Photography
